Parsley recall campaign launched at Lidl

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) informs of a recall of parsley from Italy, sold by Lidl in Germany. Parsley could become a health risk for people with allergies.

According to the Dutch supplier Fossa Eugenia BV, parsley may contain celery, which is why people with a celery allergy should urgently refrain from eating it. In the worst case, there is a risk of symptoms that can go as far as allergic shock.

The recall concerns "Parsil Smooth, 40g" with lot L3006 EH 10 and country of origin Italy. This was sold at Lidl Germany. Other products sold by Lidl from supplier Fossa Eugenia BV and parsley from other suppliers are not affected by the recall.

Parsley may contain celery and people allergic to celery should not consume the product due to the possible allergic reaction. According to Fossa Eugenia BV, the product is still suitable for consumption by people without a celery allergy.

For ongoing consumer protection reasons, Lidl also reacted immediately and withdrew the affected product from sale. Anyone who has already purchased the parsley can return it to any Lidl branch and the purchase price will be refunded even without presenting the receipt. (fp)
